A day at Sandringham and lots of photos.

That’s pretty much how my visit went.

I arrived with plenty of time to wander around at my own pace. And it was lovely.

Rather than rushing from one room to the next, I found myself chatting with the knowledgeable and friendly staff, and noticing the smaller things – the details in the rooms, the gardens, the architecture and all those little touches that give a place its character.

It’s amazing being somewhere in person that photographs and guidebooks can never quite capture.

That’s exactly what I enjoy most about visiting historic houses and gardens. There’s always more to discover when you take your time.

And, of course, I couldn’t resist taking photos.

I came away with plenty of inspiration – both for future trips and for my work in tourism, where so much of what makes a destination memorable comes down to capturing its character and sense of place.

Have you visited Sandringham? What did you enjoy most?
