I finally finished reading AI Resilient: How Freelancers and Entrepreneurs Can Thrive, Charge More, and Stay Irreplaceable in the Age of AI (available on Amazon) by Joachim Lépine, M. Ed., C. Tr. – and I’m glad I didn’t just stop at the catchy title.

As a freelance tourism and marketing translator, I’m constantly considering the pros and cons of AI. On the one hand, the tools are getting smarter. On the other hand, not everything can or should be automated.

What I liked about this book is that it offers a practical roadmap for maintaining your value as a human being. It explains how to set yourself apart by building stronger client relationships, focusing on creativity and developing skills that are harder to replace.

For me, the biggest takeaway is that: Staying relevant isn’t about chasing shiny AI tools; it’s about enhancing the human elements of our work: cultural nuance, empathy and storytelling. It's also important to position yourself as a specialist translation partner, so clients don't end up making short-sighted savings that cost them more in the long run. This is what will keep translation and transcreation alive in tourism and marketing.

If you’re a freelancer or small business owner wondering how to adapt without compromising your identity (or your rates), I recommend reading it.

Have you read it yet, or do you know of another book on AI and freelancing that I should add to my list?
