From the outside, the start of the week often looks quiet, but behind the scenes, it tends to set the tone for everything that follows.
This week started with a Zoom call with my new networking group, where ideas are exchanged, challenges are shared and solutions are found. For freelancers and small business owners, these regular check-ins are more important than people realise. They serve as a reminder that, even when working independently, you're not actually working alone.
So far, it has been a mix of client project work and reviewing a few contracts for upcoming assignments. This side of the business is less visible, but it’s where the foundations are laid – ensuring that timelines are clear, expectations are aligned, and every project gets off to a good start before a single word is translated.
And, amidst all the work, I’ve also booked a holiday later in the year. Not because things are quiet – quite the opposite, in fact – but because having something to look forward to after a busy period can be the best motivation of all.
A new week, new projects, good conversations, and a little reminder that even freelancers need something in the diary that isn’t work.
How does your week usually begin – straight into client work, or with a bit of planning first?
